Flashback, Cleveland's four-woman swing band, will be performing every Monday night in April at Club Isabella, 2025 Abington Rd.. in University Circle from 8 p.m. to midnight. On Friday and Saturday, May 6 and 7, the band will be at Brother's Lounge at 11609 Detroit from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. Flashback will also perform at Shaughnessy's at 19729 Center Ridge Road in Rocky River on Thursday. Friday and Saturday. April 14, 15 and 16, April 28, 29 and 30, and May 12, 13 and 14.

The Tenth Muse Coffeehouse will feature Melissa Lim from Kent on April 23. A special evening is in store May 7 when Judy Reagan. from the Washington. D.C. area, comes to the Muse. Judy will perform songs from her first album "Old Friends" on Wild Patience Records. Nancy Day of Columbus, Ohio will present her versatile talents at singing, guitar and piano at the May 21 Coffeehouse. The Coffeehouse is located at 202 N. Lincoln St. in Kent. Holly Near and Ronnie Gilbert will blend two generations of socially conscious folk music at a concert April 17 at the Civic, 3130 Mayfield Road. Cleveland Heights. The concert is being sponsored by MBS Productions. WomenSpace. and Women Speak Out for Peace and Justice/WILPF. Holly and Ronnie will be accompanied on piano by Jeff Langley. Sign language artist Susan Freundlich will interpret the music for the hearingimpaired. The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Great Hall. Mag Christian, one of the musical pioneers of the women's movement. will perform in concert on April 19, 1983 at 8:00 p.m. in Oberlin College's Finney Chapel. Appearing with her will be Diane Lindsay on bass and piano. Tickets are $7 ($3 seniors) and are available at Coventry Books in Cleveland Heights, and at the main door the night of the concert. On Saturday, April 23, Women's Coffeehouse will feature music by the four-woman group Haresulte from Columbus. They will present music in the Blue Grass tradition. This is their first appearance at the Coffeehouse. The Coffeehouse is held the fourth Saturday of each month at Center Hall in the Civic. 3130 Mayfield Road (near Lee) in Cleveland Heights. We are open from 8 p.m. to midnight and ask a $2.00 donation at the door. The Coffeehouse is chemical-free. Coffee, tea, juice and snacks are available. All women are welcome. The American Theatre Company, a Cleveland theatre group organized and run entirely by women, will present The Club. a musical satire by Eve Merriam, as their next production. The play concerns the members and other inhabitants of an exclusive men's club-with all the roles played by women. Directed by Marilena Tonti. "The Club" will be performed May 5-7, 12-14 and 19-21 at 8:00 at the Amalgamated Clothing and Textile Workers Union Hall, 2227 Payne Avenue. Tickets are $4.00. or $3.50 for seniors and students. There will be no charge to unemployed persons who show some evidence of unemployment.

The National Lesbian Slide Show and Competition will travel to more than five cities for judging by lesbian audiences between May 14 and the end of July: the closest it will come to Cleveland is Grand Rapids, Michigan. The 1983 National Women's Music Festival will be held June 3-5, 1983 in Bloomington, Indiana. The Festival, in its ninth year. will feature workshops in a wide range of topics as well as music. Performers scheduled for the Festival include Odetta. Holly Near. Ginni Clemmens. Linda Tillery and Adrienne Torf. Ferron. Nancy Brooks of Womanshine Theatre. Therese Edell and Betsy Lippitt, the Reel World String Band. Jane Sapp. Ann Reed and Judy Reagan. Another new aspect is a fine arts exhibit. Ovular 5 Photography Workshops for Women will be held at Rootworks. women's land in southern Oregon. from June 11-18, 1983. For the fifth consecutive year. this community of woman will eat, breathe and sleep photography for a week in lovely natural surroundings. This year the cost of Ovular 5 Workshop has been reduced to $125 for the entire seven days. The 12th annual conference of the International Women's Writing Guild will be held at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs. NY. on July 22-29, 1983. The Guild is particularly known for non-elitist writing conferences which attract women of every age and background from every part of the U.S., Canada and also from abroad. The first North American Gay Choral Festival will take place September 8-11, 1983. at New York's Lincoln Center. More than 1.000 singers from the U.S. and Canada are expected to attend. including many choral groups from various parts of the country.
